Vietravel Airlines adds Airbus A321, enhancing its operational capacity and expanding its route network.
Increasing the size of the fleet is seen as a crucial step to enhance operational capacity, increase operational autonomy, and create room for the airline's future network expansion plans.
The Airbus A321 is a large-capacity narrow-body aircraft widely operated by many airlines on short and medium-haul routes due to its optimized operational efficiency, making it suitable for routes with high passenger demand. The addition of this aircraft helps Vietravel Airlines increase its service capacity on existing routes, while also enhancing flexibility in flight scheduling.
Ready for a plan to add 9 more aircraft in the next 6 months.
The new aircraft, brought to Vietnam by the Vietravel Airlines crew, landed at Noi Bai International Airport at 4:35 PM on April 17, 2026, with registration number VN-A138. After landing, the aircraft was welcomed with a water cannon salute – a ceremony commonly used when a new aircraft officially joins an airline's fleet.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Do Vinh Quang – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines – said that in the aviation industry, the size and structure of the fleet are one of the core factors determining the competitiveness and operational efficiency of each airline.
“ A fleet is not merely an operational asset, but also a core foundation for an airline to build stable operational capacity and expand its flight network in the long term. Welcoming aircraft VN-A138 today is a significant milestone in Vietravel Airlines' fleet development roadmap.”
This is the first aircraft in the airline's plan to add nine more aircraft in the next six months. The continued operation of Airbus A321 aircraft in 2026 will help Vietravel Airlines increase its operational autonomy, optimize flight schedules, and gradually improve operational efficiency, better meeting the growing demands of the market.
Vietravel Airlines is currently part of the T&T Group's ecosystem, undergoing restructuring and operational consolidation. The participation and support of this strategic shareholder provides the airline with additional resources to enhance its operational capacity, gradually expand its scale of operations, and improve flight stability.
According to the plan, the new Airbus A321 aircraft will soon be put into operation on routes compatible with the airline's network. This aircraft acquisition is seen as a step in Vietravel Airlines' strategy to strengthen its operational foundation, thereby creating a basis for the airline to gradually expand its operations in the next phase.
Preparing to expand the domestic flight network, and exploring additional international destinations.
Amidst the significant impact of geopolitical shifts in the Middle East on the aviation industry, Vietravel Airlines has proactively transformed itself, turning challenges into opportunities for breakthroughs. The airline is focusing its efforts on strengthening its fleet, while simultaneously improving its human resources and enhancing specialized training. This is a strategic stepping stone for Vietravel Airlines to increase the frequency of key routes and realize its plan to expand its domestic and international flight network in the near future.
Most recently, Vietravel Airlines has restored the Hanoi-Bangkok route, marking a step towards expanding its international operations as the airline strengthens its resources and refreshes its brand image. Simultaneously, the airline is also boosting domestic routes to diversify its flight network and effectively capitalize on travel demand in potential markets.
Vietravel Airlines is also focusing on improving service quality and enhancing the passenger experience. The airline stated that it has implemented numerous solutions to optimize operational activities, improve in-flight service quality, and launch customer appreciation programs to strengthen its relationship with passengers.
Aiming to gradually increase its fleet size, Vietravel Airlines is now ready to operate nine new aircraft in the next six months. This fleet expansion will provide a foundation for the airline to continue developing its flight network, including opening new domestic routes connecting to Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Quy Nhon, and Buon Ma Thuot.
In the international market, the airline plans to launch a route connecting Shenzhen in Q3 2026, and will also explore the possibility of expanding its flight network to several destinations in the Asian region such as China, Taiwan, and South Korea, in line with the recovery trend of the tourism market and the demand for travel between Vietnam and key markets.
Vietravel Airlines is in the process of finalizing its brand identity change and announcing its new name. The name change and the development of a new brand identity are seen as a step to mark the next phase of the airline's development, aiming to build a more clearly positioned airline brand in the market.
