AI application, T&T's logistics "super port"

ICD "Super Port" Vinh Phuc will be integrated with the most modern AI technology on the market. world, combined with breakthrough technology solutions to improve the efficiency of the logistics system in Vietnam, making Vietnam a strategic link in the global supply chain.

Morning 1/10, at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park (Ha Noi) took place the Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 event and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the National Innovation Center (NIC). The event was honored to have the participation of Prime minister Goverment, leaders of ministries, departments, central and local agencies; the world's leading "big tech" such as Meta, Nvidia, Qualcomm... and some large domestic corporations such as T&T Group, Viettel, Sovico, ftp extension, THACO...

At the event, the “super port” ICD Vinh Phuc – Vietnam SuperPort™, a joint venture between T&T Group and YCH Group (Singapore), brought extremely impressive Apple Vision Pro experiences to visualize the new future of Vietnam SuperPort™. Virtual reality technology highlighted the “Park within a Park™” model, integrating all supply chain management services on road, rail, air and sea in a single logistics center. This initiative helps to seamlessly connect, improve supply chain efficiency and strengthen the position of Vietnam SuperPort™ as a key factor in the logistics industry in the region.

"Super port" ICD Vinh Phuc pioneers in developing breakthrough technology solutions

Presenting to the Prime Minister at the Vietnam Innovation Day 2024, Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, said that Vietnam SuperPort™ will integrate artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that have been successfully deployed at Supply Chain City (SCC) in Singapore that YCH Group has previously successfully developed.

Typical examples include Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGV), Drone Inventory Management Systems, and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR). According to T&Y experts, the application of ASRS technology can optimize storage space up to 7 times and reduce 95% of the time it takes to transport goods in the warehouse.

Or by using Drones to replace humans and a fixed camera system to control goods, it will help shorten the time, taking only 12 minutes to complete the count (while previously it would take 2 people and up to 1 day to count the goods of a large warehouse area).

Notably, according to the representative of T&Y, not only taking advantage of modern AI technologies that have been successfully applied at Supply Chain City, the "super port" ICD Vinh Phuc will pioneer breakthrough technology solutions through continued cooperation with the world's leading technology partners to develop new technologies such as advanced Warehouse Robots to optimize workflows and speed up order processing; ESG platform uses blockchain and AI technology to develop digital twins to help track and minimize carbon footprints; Develop an integrated Logistics market to connect businesses and logistics service providers, helping to increase transparency and improve access to capital through AI.

Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, presented on the future of “super ports”

Vietnam SuperPort™ – the first “super port” in the ASEAN smart logistics network, and one of the largest logistics centers in the North. This is a multimodal logistics port, covering an area of up to 83 hectares, with a total investment of about 200 million USD, located in the industrial “capital” of Binh Xuyen, Vinh Phuc, invested and developed by T&Y SuperPort Vinh Phuc Joint Stock Company – a joint venture between Bau Hien’s T&T Group and YCH Group (Singapore).

Located on the Northern Economic Corridor, Vietnam SuperPort™ connects 20 industrial parks with major seaports and airports, including Hai Phong, Noi Bai, and extending to Yunnan and Kunming provinces, China. Inheriting nearly 70 years of experience in the logistics field from YCH Group, Vietnam SuperPort™ also takes advantage of connections to global supply centers across Asia, including China, India and Southeast Asia.

Vietnam SuperPort™ is positioned as a strategic multimodal logistics hub, connecting the China-Southeast Asia freight network with global markets via road, rail, air and sea. As a key node in the ASEAN smart logistics network, Vietnam SuperPort™ is built to enhance regional integration and cross-border trade, promoting a seamless, faster and smarter supply chain.

“Vietnam SuperPort™ is not just building infrastructure. We are creating a sustainable and advanced ecosystem, strongly applying modern technologies to improve the efficiency of the logistics system in Vietnam, expanding the supply chain from China to the ASEAN region. With Vietnam SuperPort™, we are opening a new era of the logistics industry, making Vietnam a strategic link in the global supply chain”, Vietnam SuperPort™ CEO affirmed to the Prime Minister at Vietnam Innovation Day 2024.

Opening a new era of logistics industry

According to the World Bank (WB), Vietnam ranks 43rd in the 2023 Logistics Performance Index (LPI). Singapore ranks first in this table.

According to the Vietnam Logistics Services Association (VLA), Vietnam's logistics costs currently average 16,8-17% of GDP, much higher than the world average of 10,6%. If calculated within the ASEAN region, Vietnam's logistics costs are higher than those of Singapore (currently at 8,5%), Malaysia (13%) and Thailand (15,5%).

Singapore is known as one of the most advanced countries in the world in the field of logistics. This country is considered a model in planning, investing and exploiting the development of the logistics service industry at the regional and global level. One of the "highlights" that helps this island nation to be at the top of the world's logistics industry and contribute to the prosperity of the national economy is the application of technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and IoT to optimize logistics processes, improve operational efficiency and reduce logistics costs. The application of these advanced technologies is expected to soon bring Singapore's logistics costs down to 5% or even lower.

In Vietnam, the application of artificial intelligence technology in logistics is an urgent solution today. According to Decision No. 200 of the Prime Minister, one of the tasks to improve the competitiveness and develop Vietnam's logistics services by 2025 is to "research and apply new technologies, technical advances, and modern technologies in management, operation, and training on supply chains to achieve higher quality logistics services".

According to the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030 approved by the Prime Minister, logistics is one of the eight industries that need to be prioritized for digital transformation first.

The application of technology in logistics will bring many benefits. Research shows that applying technology to logistics operations helps businesses reduce delivery costs by 14% and increase the number of deliveries per vehicle by 13%. In addition, breakthrough technologies allow companies and logistics service providers to further optimize costs and increase delivery productivity by intelligently planning routes to ensure multiple pickups and drop-offs.

In addition, AI logistics also helps improve the competitiveness of domestic logistics enterprises, becoming a driving force to attract investment, especially FDI enterprises, "big tech" in technology, microchips, semiconductors, etc.
